About Us

Encore is a one stop source of information about the performing arts in the Western Cape, South Africa.

There is nothing quite as magical and uplifting as an evening at the theatre. That delightful sense of anticipation as the lights go down and the curtian rises for an hour of beauty where time is suspended and you enter another world. Or the exhiliaration of leaving a show and sharing the details with your friends afterwards over a cup of coffee. We want you to share this magic and marvel at the talent of our local artists.

The diary provides a comprehensive listing of information about performances to help you decide what you are going to see next. Details are given well in advance, sometimes a year in advance, so that you can make plans to attend the performance; and if you are from out of town, to plan your trip to include a show or two. The search facility helps you to find a show either by the name of the show, the date, genre or the venue. We also let you know if the show is suitable for the family or adults only. Imagine the embarrasment of taking someone to the wrong kind of show...oops.

If you know of an event, submit it for inclusion on the site. We cover all forms of the performing arts from professional productions to amateur dramatic societies, school productions and festivals. We want to know about every performance that the public can attend.

Our glossary helps to improve the vocabulary so that you can casually drop technical terms into the conversation, or understand what other people are talking about. It includes both serious and fun definitions.

If you would like to share your opinion of a shows, register on our blog to leave your constructive comments for other patrons and the artists to see. Become a theatre critic and help to build a performing arts culture in the Western Cape. You can also register to receive the monthly newsletter that gives the details for the performances of that month and interesting articles on performers and other aspects of the theatre. Why don't you become a writer for Encore and submit articles for publication?

The most important thing is for you to enjoy visiting the site. Contact us if there is something missing or if it can be improved in anyway. paul@encoreonline.co.za or +27(0)72 947 6147
